Couscous Pulao | Couscous With Bell Peppers

  Couscous is traditionally served with vegetables and meat or it can be prepared as a salad too. It is quick and easy to prepare, will be ready in less then 5 minutes. Couscous taste great with chick peas  or chicken curry. Today i am sharing  an easy and delicious pulao or upma with couscous.

Couscous Pulao/ Couscous Upma


  • 1 cup whole wheat couscous
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbs butter
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbs vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bell peppers ,cut in strips
  • 2 garlics, crushed
  • 2 whole dry red chillies
  • 1 ts chicken masala
  • salt, as needed
  • coriander leaves , to garnish


Microwave 1 cup couscous and  1 cup water adding butter and salt for 2 to 3 minutes. Fluff with a fork and
set aside. Heat oil in a pan, splutter cumin seeds and chillies. Add onions  and garlic. Saute till raw smell of garlic goes away.. Add bell peppers  and chicken masala, mix well and roast for few minutes.  To this add cooked couscous and mix well. Cook covered on low for 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
