How to cook Quinoa

  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 2 cups water
  • salt, as needed


        Rinse Quinoa thoroughly for at least 2 to 3 minutes under running water This way you can eliminate the  bitterness of Quinoa's natural coating. In a saucepan add quinoa, water and salt. Bring it to a rolling boil, now lower the heat and cook covered for 10 to 15 minutes. Let it cool and fluff it with a fork.Set aside.

Quinoa Pulao

  • 2 cups cooked Quinoa
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbs vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bell peppers ,cut in strips
  • 2 garlics, crushed
  • 2 whole dry red chillies
  • 2 tbs cooked peas
  • 1 ts chicken masala
  • salt, as needed
  • coriander leaves , to garnish
Heat oil in a pan, splutter cumin seeds and chillies. Add onions  and garlic. Saute till raw smell of garlic goes away. Add bell peppers  and chicken masala, mix well and roast for few minutes.  To this add cooked peas, cooked quinoa  and mix well . Cook covered on low for 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
