Homemade Granola
Making Granola at home is easy, healthy above all save some dollars too. This is my first attempt, and I will be be making again. No more store bought ones. If you don't have wheat germ and maple syrup, replace them with wheat bran and honey.
Ingredients
- 3 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup wheat germ or wheat bran
- 1/4 cup sweet coconut flakes
- 1 cup chopped nuts , I used pecans, almonds and pistachios
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- raisins or dried cranberries
- salt, a pinch
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees f. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or slightly oil the pan. In a
large mixing bowl mix oats, wheat germ, coconut flakes, nuts and salt, Set aside. In a sauce pan heat the brown sugar, oil and maple syrup till the sugar melts. It takes only few minutes. Pour this over oats mixture, stir it until thoroughly coated. Transfer this oats mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake until lightly browned, 35 to 40 minutes rotating pan once halfway through baking. Crispy yummy granola is ready, have it with cereal, yogurt or munch it as a snack. Store in air tight container.
