Maladu-Diwali Special

Maladu-Diwali Special

Ingredients
  • 2 cup dalia channa daal or Pottukadala
  • 3/4 cup sugar, powdered
  • 1/2 cup ghee or clarified butter
Directions

Dry roast the channa daal until it changes to a slight golden colour.
Do not burn the channa daal. Grind the roasted daal to a fine powder.
To this add melted ghee and powdered sugar, mix well to form a soft
dough. Make small balls out of this and store them in air tight container.

I once took my friend Don to a nearby hotel and told him there is a ladoo We never had before called maladu...

he was eager to eat the maladu... when the waiter brought it... he looked at me and asked... Abhi ari unda ennu paranja pore.... ha ha...

I know maladu is prepared using kadala... but the hotel owner serves maladu with a mix of rice...

happy Diwali to you, mahesh, Akku and all your family members...

Springbird:In maladu Dalia channa daal is used, but in Besan ladoo gram flour (made with regular channa daal) is used..Dalia can be eaten raw as peanuts..
