Pancakes With Flax seed Meal
Make your breakfast pancakes even more healthier with the touch of Flax seeds. Health benefits of flax seeds are endless. They are low in
carbohydrates , high in fiber, rich in
Omega 3 fatty acids, high in Phytochemicals including many antioxidants. Flax seed play a crucial role in lowering cholesterol .
One tbs of ground flax seeds and 3 tbs of water may serve as as a replacement for one egg in baking.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup flax seed meal ( i used Bob's Red Mill brand)
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbs sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbs oil
Directions
Combine flour, flax seed meal, baking powder, sugar and salt. In another bowl blend together the eggs, milk and oil .Add this liquid mixture to dry ingredients and mix until lumps are eliminated. Pour this batter on a hot griddle. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until slightly brown.Serve with
Maple syrup and fresh fruits.

I love the health benefit of the flax seed; I have been reading how important it is for women, especially those of child bearing years, which would not be me, grins, but still important nevertheless. I have not seen the flax seed meal but I will certainly look for it. Big YUM! Thank you for sharing this one!!

ReplyDeleteOne doubt. In Bangalore we get flax seeds not flax seed meals. So can I just powder the seeds in mixer to substitute for flaxseed meal?

@ Namitha : I think u can add 1 tbs flax seed to the regular pancake batter to make it healthy.U can do the same when u make chappathi ,poori etc...
