Coconut Chutney / Thenga Chutney



I cant think of eating Idlis without this coconut chutney. Easy to prepare with simple handy ingredients. Highly recommend to use fresh coconuts and coconut oil to get the authentic taste. Click here for the soft and fluffy idli recipe


Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups  grated coconut
  • 3 dry red chillies
  • 2 to 3 shallots
  • curry leaves, few
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • tamarind, a small piece
  • salt, as needed
  • 1 tbs coconut oil
Directions

Grind coconut, one red chilli,1 curry leaf, shallots and tamarind to a chunky paste adding enough water. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and red chillis, turn off the heat. Pour the tampering over the chutney, adjust salt , serve with idlis and dosa.
