Ingredients 1 1/4 cup flour 1/2 cup butter 1 tsp baking powder 2 eggs 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 cup sugar a pinch of salt 2 tbs milk 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Directions Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Sieve flour, baking powder and salt. Keep it aside. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at time, add vanilla and mix well. Add the flour mixture alternating with milk about a large spoon at a time, starting and ending with flour. Divide the batter into half. In one half add the cocoa powder and mix well. Pour the batter(both white & chocolate) alternately on top of each other, without stirring using a large spoon. Let the batter spread by itself.Tap the pan 2-3 times to level it and to remove the air bubbles. Bake for 30 mints(depends on the oven) until tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean. When you cut the cake you can see the zebra stripes. You can replace cocoa powder with dark melted chocolates.

you have a great blog and i have tried alot of ur recipes.. Thanks alot !!
i tried this today and it tasted great was very spongy too .. but the white and black layers were not as distinct as in your pic . any suggestions for that? also i had tried your apple cinnamon cake .. i made it twice but both times although it tasted good ,it came out more like a pie rather than a cake..in the sense it was not at all fluffy and spongy.. what do i do? or more appropriately what do u think i did wrong? :(
Thanx Shazia for trying. Zebra cake: Instead of cocoa powder add melted dark chocolates apple spice cake: This cake is not as spongy as vanilla cake.try with butter for veg oil and beat whites and yolk separately.
