Chicken with Broccoli
   Here is a simplified method for making this favorite Chinese dish. Sauce is prepared separately and then assembled with the cooked chicken and broccoli to make sure that sauce has the right consistency and chicken and broccoli maintains the right texture.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sliced Chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup broccoli heads
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell pepper
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp of brown sugar(Plain sugar or honey can also be used)
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • Chilli flakes/ scallions/ white sesame seeds to garnish
  • Salt and pepper 
  • 2 pod of garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp of sesame seed oil(substitute with vegetable oil)
Directions



Preparing the sauce
   Boil 1/2 cup of water in a sauce pan and add the soy sauce, oyster sauce and brown sugar.
Bring to a boil. Mix the corn starch with 3 tbsp of water and add to the boiling water to make  think sauce.

Cooking the chicken and broccoli
  Cut the chicken breast into thin slices. Add a little bit of salt and pepper.
Heat a wok at high and add the sesame seed oil. Add the garlic and stir around for 3-4 seconds.
Add the chicken and stir fry for two minutes. Add the broccoli and continue to cook for 3 more
 minutes. Reduce the temperature to low and add enough sauce and toss to mix everything together.
Garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds.Serve with rice or noodles.
