Indo Chinese Chilli Fish


  • 1 1/2 cups Tilapia fillets cut in cubes( use any white boneless fish)
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup corn flour
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbs chilli garlic paste
  • 2 tsp sambal paste
  • 1 tbs light soy sauce
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1 onion, chopped in cubes
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 tbs minced garlic
  • 2 small green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tbs vegetable oil
  • few spring onions, to garnish
  • salt, as needed
  • oil, to deep fry

Combine flour, pepper, turmeric powder, corn starch and salt. To this add water to make medium consistency batter. Dip each fish fillets into this batter, deep fry till golden brown. Transfer to a tissue paper.
  Heat oil in a wok, add onions and  celery, saute for few seconds in high flame. Make sure onions and celery retain their crunchiness. Add minced garlic and green chillis, saute till raw smell goes away.  Lower the heat ,  add chilli garlic paste, sambal paste, vinegar and soy sauce. Add deep fried fish pieces ,toss well till completely coated with the sauce. Transfer to the serving dish. Garnish with spring onions.
